Homework Policy
Home Practice:
Nightly Reading Homework (no reading log, on your honor):
Monday: Parent reads to child side by side for 20 minutes out of a Good Fit Book (click on the drop down menu under Reading Strategies for Home tab to find out what a Good Fit Book is!)
Tuesday: Child reads to parent from the same book, side by side, for 20 minutes.
Wednesday: Child reads to self from the same book as Monday and Tuesday for 20 minutes.
Thursday: Have your child pick a new, good fit book and start the, "you read, they read to you, they read to self" process all over again. The main thing we hope to hear is that they are reading and they love it whether it's reading pictures or reading words!
Starting the week of Sept. 2nd, you will see classwork from LAST week in your students backpack. Our homework expectation is that you sit with your student and encourage them to finish any incomplete work from last week. If they have many errors on a given assignment, please help them fix up any mistakes. If you feel they have grasped the concept of the skill, they do not have to complete everything. That is unnecessary if they show mastery. You may return homework on Friday. We will not be returning it however unless you request it. More information about homework will be presented at Back to School Night.
